There’s a hike and bike trail down the block from me that I like to walk on. One spring day I was venturing on my favorite trail that goes around a small lake. I was lost in thought and not really paying attention when suddenly saw this tree full of yellow pom pom blooms. I had never seen anything like it, what a lovely moment it was.
I used Mod Podge on the background water to give it a sheen and resin for the water with the turtle.
I sculpted the tiny turtle out of polymer clay
I used paper clay to build the mounds and used sand that I collected from the area. I had to run the sand through a blender and strain it to get it fine enough.
