This piece was inspired by my walks on the trails near my home. I love the intrigue of a disappearing trail. Where does it go, what will I see around the next bend?
First I sculpted the ground using paper clay and then I painted the background
I added real sand from the trails that I put through a blender to make the grains smaller.
To make the trees I used a Dremel on dowel rods to create a bark like texture.
I used paper clay to create the fungi on the side of the fallen tree and also for the roots
I added model scenery grasses and real leaves that I put through a blender
I used the needles from an asparagus fern for the needles of the pine tree. I sprayed them with some hairspray to help hold them in place and then painted them green.
I’m generally neat and orderly, unless I’m deep in a project
